Soap History

It was told that in 1000 BC soap was discovered on Sapo Hill in Rome. A woman rinsing clothes in the river at the base of the hill; Sapo Hill. Where animal sacrificing took place. Clothes got clean with soapy clay running down the hill. It was then discovered that a cleansing 'substance' was formed when the rendered animal fat mixed with wood ashes and the clay soil.

How Soap is Made?

Soap is an acid and a base which reacts with another, and neutralizes into the soap. This process is called saponification: as the acid and the base come into contact with one another and reacts.

Cold process method is making soap without complex chemicals, additives and using heat of the reaction. (No external heat). Using all raw ingredients, not from a pre-manufactured base. Saponification takes several days to complete. Glycerin a natural by product of saponification remains in the finished soap.
